Only two more sleeps til race day!
Yesterday I went to the expo for the NYC Half and got my bib number.
I met up with my teammate Nicole from Prospect Park Track Club and we printed our photo and taped it on the big wall where people could write messages. I also got to see Jocelyn (a Oiselle teammate who recently moved back to NYC, woohoo!) at the Nuun Hydration booth and Lora at the GenUCan booth.
The forecast for Sunday morning keeps getting colder, unfortunately, so I’ve had to adjust my race day outfit. Right now the temperature will probably be hovering just above freezing and slightly windy, so I’m going to wear my Oiselle long-sleeved flyte shirt, fleece-lined Lesley tights, Prospect Park Track Club singlet (representing the local running scene in my hometown race! Even though I only recently made the move to Brooklyn from Manhattan), throwaway gloves, maaaaaybe a headband that I don’t want to throw away, sunglasses, and my Hoka sneakers.
I’m a little nervous about wearing my Hokas for the race, but I’ve done my last three long runs in them (including a 13-miler) and they’ve felt great. We’ll see how it goes! Worst case scenario, I’ll treat it as a test run for the Brooklyn Half as far as shoe choice goes.
I also have another set of throwaway clothes for the start corrals, since we’ll be out there for about an hour before the start of the race. (And the clothes will be collected to be donated to Goodwill, so it’s a win-win.) I’ll be wearing a sweatshirt, a down vest, and a hat, as well as disposable handwarmers. Hope that’s enough to keep me warm!
If you want to track me on race day, you can download the 2014 NYC Half Mobile App for free in the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store, and look me up by my bib number, 14868.
Hopefully now that I’ve announced that to the Internet, my splits and finish time won’t be terrible!

Good luck to everyone racing!!!
